Connection between DcuTerm and efus A9

  • Hi everybody,

I'm having trouble making a correct connection between the DcuTerm and an efus A9. As a guide, I use https://www.fs-net.de/assets/d…FSiMX6_FirstSteps_eng.pdf. There I followed the instructions in chapter 3. So the board (J14 COM A interface) is connected to the PC using the RS232 adapter and the null modem cable, and the power supply is connected. Set in the DcuTerm COM1 with a baud rate of 115200, 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit, None Parity and None Flow Control and then clicked "Open Port". When starting the board, the DcuTerm only shows the following:

    Code

    Then only "<-15>" follows.

I have already tried the following:

    - The baud rate is set to 38400. This will get "<-69>" instead of "<-15>".

    - Check if it's really a null modem cable.

    - Updated the Nboot.bin using Chapter 7 from https://www.fs-net.de/assets/d…u/efus/efus_SINTF_eng.pdf. For this the mfgtool_imx6qdl and the included nbootimx6_35.bin were used. According to the instructions, the DcuTerm should display a debug message. This does not happen. But the MfgTool gives a positive feedback.

    - TeraTerm and PuTTY tested, no success either.

What could be the mistake or what else can I try?

    Thanks and kind regards

  • In most cases, the USB to Serial converter is bad. These devices tend to be slightly off the baud rate and then the connection does not work. We have measured this many times, the baud rate of the board itself is exactly on spot.

So try another USB to serial converter or use a PCI card with "real" serial ports.

  • Do you use the provided Null Modem cable or do you have your own solution? Do you have a second efusA9 board to do some comparison tests? Have you tried Putty or TeraTerm as alternative to DCUTerm? Do these terminal programs show correct data? Or can you try a different PC? You do not need Linux or the development software on this PC, just a terminal program.

If nothing helps and the error persists on this efusA9 board, then you have to send it as RMA to F&S and we will check what is wrong.
