Is it possible to use the embedded visual studio 4 tools via activesync ?
I have a connection to the unit using activesync and I can access the filing system but I’m unable to get the platform manager to use the connection.
I have created a new device under the NETDCU52C1 device tree and set the Transport and startup server to active sync but it fails to connect to the device, it gets as far as “Establishing platform manager connection to device†and never creates a connection. Should it be possible to use the tools via active sync with a 5.2 device? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

Yes and your settings (Transport and startup server to active sync) are right!
As fas as i remember there may be problems while the very fist connect (wrong sdk is used). You can workaroud this by create and deploy a WCE project (for NETDCU52C1) before using the tools (do also skip the "test"). -

It appears to be an issue with my PC. I installed all the tool of a fresh PC and it works fine.
The main difference between the PC is the version of ActiveSync Do you know if a specific version is required? -

i dont think that special ActiveSync versions cause problems.
I used different versions since V3.0 without problems.
